These juvenile yet enthusiastic character sketches are a kind of artist's audition for a comic I'm currently writing. If this seems like something that would interest you, please just show me how you would draw and interperet this. If I love it enough, we'll be partners in a hopefully awesome new comic book!
I'm working on an epic "lost world" style comic, not entirely unlike Turok or Samurai Jack in scope and style but with a slightly more historic bent (Mark Twain and Caligula are recurring characters). It has two protagonists at first unaware of the other's existence. One is from Medieval France and the other from 70s New York. There are also a lot of Heinorious Bosch and David Bowie references.
For art style my two main concerns are vibrant backgrounds and emotional depth in the characters. I'm not too picky on the specifics but I give major props for originality. Just to air out my prejudices, my favorite comic book artists are roughly and in no order; James O'Barr (the Crow) David Lloyd (V for Vendetta) and Jhonen Vasquez (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac)
As for any possible payment (sigh) I have nothing to give upfront and no guarantees of success. On the other hand, if we get published, I'll happily split any pay 50/50.
Good luck to us all.
